Satan, Holik, awarded new deals

(Aug 8) Miroslav Satan and Bobby Holik were awarded new contracts by arbitrators on Wednesday. 


Holik, a defensive specialist who made $2.7 million last season, was awarded a one-year deal worth $3.5 million. 


The centre had 15 goals and 35 assists and was plus-19 in 80 games last season, and added six goals and 10 assists in 25 playoff games. 


Satan, the Buffalo Sabres' top scoring threat, was awarded a two-year, $6.8 million contract. 


Satan will earn $3.25 million this season and $3.55 million in 2002-03, according to figures released by the NHL Players Association, making him Buffalo's highest paid player.
