Winning the Cup was the only reason I don't think it was one of the most 
horrid deals Lou has made. 

I think you overvalue Lemieux's value. If this was Claude Lemieux circa 
1986-1996, then I would have had no problem. Claude is no longer the player 
he once was. Did he have an off ice presence? Absolutely. Was he a great 
player on th ice? Not at all. He was mediocre to average on the ice the last 
3 years or so. 

If Claude was brought in as a coach, He would be perfect. It's just his 
playing days are all but behind him. Yes he's a great motivator, but again, 
not on the ice.
