[Devils-list] Backup goaltender

The way I see it, all year long we hear how much Martin wants to play - how
he is better when he plays a lot, and have seen how he doesn't come back
strong in the game following a rest.  Well - fine and dandy, you have just
described every player on the team!  They ALL want to play - they ALL
benefit from daily work, and they have almost always sucked wind at the end
of a "return game".

I know that Martin is one of the teams premiere players - but the operative
word is ONE OF (well two words) - they pussyfoot around him so he doesn't
get pissed.  I am a big MB fan, and i think the problems with this series go
way further than the net, but let's not play favorites here.

If he is hurt, we should have been able to count on the coaching staff going
to a backup goaltender who has PLAYED (which can be a problem because most
teams have the go-to guy when the playoffs roll around - catch22?).  Being
tired int he playoffs has plagued Martin for the past several seasons (last
year's win notwithstanding) - I am not proud of the new NHL record he just
set for consecutive games played - 97 - who the hell will want to back him
up????
