I just got home a few minutes ago from Worcester and the Eastern
Regionals (thankfully no OT as I made the last bus to Boston w/ only 10
minutes to spare!). BC continues to rule (have only lost one
"tournament" this season)under Gionta's leadership. Clemmensen played
incredibly well. The game vs. Maine was 0-0 going into the third so
you can understand why I was nervous about OT (Friday's games were
decided in double OT and a single OT). I've never seen Clemmensen play
that well and if I got to give out stars, he'd get first star from me
(and I'm not a big goalie fan) esp. since he had to deal with having
Brooks Orpik (Pittsburgh prospect) allegedly playing D in front of him
(he made me nervous everytime he got on the ice).

The first game featured two Devils prospects - David Hale (first round
2000) for the Sioux of North Dakota and Chris Hartsburg (1999 pick -
yes, he's Craig's son) for Colorado College. The Sioux won 4-1; I felt
bad for CC's goalie Sanger who got zero help (even a shot from his own
man) for a number of stretches during the game. I was worried about
Hale initially - I believe Scott Stevens has been referenced and his
first noticeable play was missing a hit on the blue line by a country
mile allowing the CC player to move in and take a shot (personal pet
peeve re: Stevens). However he played terrific after that and logged a
lot of minutes. Hartsburg should definitely pay attention to his
studies next year. His first noticeable play on his first shift was
going to hit someone on the boards, completely missing the guy and then
sliding about 15 feet on his belly :-). He was adequate on the PK, but
I pretty much had to keep reminding myself to check if #22 was on the
ice. I chatted with the CC guy staffing their will call booth and he
appeared amazed at the thought that Hartsburg had been drafted by the
Devils. After seeing him play, I think he was just amazed that
Hartsburg had been drafted (don't get me wrong, he could get a job in
the minors - not sure about AHL though).

Also in attendance were Lou Lamoriello, David Conte, Claude Carrier and
Chris Lamoriello (and I think Tony Maricondi - is he the off-ice guy
that played for the Coast Guard?). For any of you who have been
hassled for having a toe on the seat in front of you - Lamoriello and
Conte climbed over seats :-p (the group switched back and forth between
the section next to mine and the next one over).

I'll be getting the pictures online in the next few days. Pictures
from last weekend's Hockey East championship - BC/UMass-Lowell,
Maine/Providence, BC/Providence and awards are up.
