Arbour, Emrick named to Hall selection committee
TORONTO Former New York Islanders coach Al Arbour and NHL broadcaster
Mike Emrick were named to the Hockey Hall of Fame Selection Committee on
Tuesday.

Arbour won four consecutive Stanley Cups with the Islanders (1980-83).
Emrick has 20 years of NHL play-by-play experience and is in his 10th
season as the voice of the New Jersey Devils.

The two will replace Bobby Orr and Jim Proudfoot, whose terms of service
to the committee will be completed March 31.

"The Hockey Hall of Fame owes a great debt to both Jim and Bobby for their
service on the selection committee," said Hall of Fame chairman Bill Hay.
"We are fortunate that Al and Mike hockey men of great integrity and
knowledge have agreed to serve the committee in their place."

The committee consists of 18 individuals appointed by the board of
directors, whose mandate is to nominate and elect candidates as honored
members in the player, builder and referee-linesman categories.

Other committee members include John Davidson, Cliff Fletcher, Emile
Francis, Stan Mikita, Pat Quinn, Serge Savard, Frank Selke and Harry
Sinden.
