I sense the author has a dislike for our chaos line center.  I think maybe 
you're reading to much into his "quip".  Should he have had a (canned)"I am 
not worthy" type answer.  And bringing up his quote from years ago??
C'mon, you hate this guy.  I think he's valueable in his role.
