[Devils-list] WHO WANTS TO PULL BRODIE NOW?

Don, Don, Don...
Come on... save percentage is hardly a stat by which to solely rank goalies
on. Are you telling me if Cujo faces 100 shots from the blue line and stops
them all, but Marty faces 50 shots from the slot, and misses 5, Cujo is
better? Marty missed two tonight. Both were on rebounds where D-men failed
to make their checks and clear the crease. Yes, Cujo is playing well. So is
Marty. Both sucked in Game 2. Both played great tonight. The Devils put a
lot of shots on net tonight. Some from far out. Some from in close. Fact is,
the Devils D stops most of the easy shots before they ever get to Marty.
The ones that do get to him are usually high in quality. I didn't see the
Laffs blocking too many shots tonight. Bottom line is I want a goalie who
brings everything, not just save percentage. Cujo has always been one of the
tops in Save percentage in the NHL, and yet, gee... he has no rings.

A little stat:
Cujo:
GP	MIN	W	L	GAA
87	5280	41 44	2.64

Marty:
GP	MIN	W	L	GAA
84 5324 50 34	1.86

That's coming into this year. games played and minutes nearly identical.
Marty is 17 games over .500. And his goals against is more than 3/4 of a
goal better. That's proven consistency over 7 years in the league. Don't
forget to add that big silver bowl either. Twice.
Rick

Okay. Here is the deal. In the next Olympics, I want Cujo in nets for
Canada because he has proven that he is, by far, a better goaltender
than Brodeur. The Devils were in double digits in shots EVERY PERIOD
OF REGULATION. The Leafs were in single digits in shots EVERY PERIOD
OF REGULATION. We outshot them 45-28 overall.

/me finds his piece of papier... ah, there it is...

Game 1:

  Cujo: Save Percentage of 100%
  Brodeur Save Percentage of 88.2%

Maybe that was just a bad game for Brodeur. Let's give him the
benefit of the doubt.

Game 2:

  Cujo: Save Percentage of 81.8%
*ouch* BRUTAL! Even a pylon could beat that. Does Martin?
  Brodeur: Save Percentage of 76.2%

GAH?!?!

Game 3:

  Cujo: Save Percentage of 93.3%
  Brodeur: Save Percentage of 92.9%

   ------
Brodeur has been outplayed all 3 games. I'm not advocating switching
goalies as I don't think Beezer would fare much better. I'm just
saying that Curtis Joseph is better. And we're just lucky that we can
outshoot this team 45-28. If Joseph had a team in front of him that
could outshoot the opposition, it would be a scary day indeed.
