[Devils-list] "We" and "Us" - an explanation

All,

Your comments regarding this have been most enlightening and
entertaining.

I've been a rarely active member of this list for a few years now. I
don't post much, but I do keep up on things and scan through posts
weekly, and comment from time to time, usually during the playoffs.

Anyway, an explanation for the "rant". I do feel the way I do about
rich sports stars in general, and probably about most of the Devils
except for the core group, like Marty and Scott Stevens (and Dano, McKay
- you know who), who are true Devils to their bones. Hell, Marty could
have asked for more money but chose to make a little less and be a
Devil. That means something.

My buddy is an Isles fan from way back, and from time to time when
talking about the Devils I also slip and say "we" or "us", and he slams
me every time. "Are YOU on the team?" blah blah. I guess its a peeve
of his. Anyway, if you can believe it I decided to become (no pun
intended) devil's advocate and make some waves on that point and see
what I could stir up. Sorry. Call it a psych experiment. I found it
interesting. I am going to give him some of your valid reasons why "we"
or "us" is probably a "legal" way to talk with regard to "your" team. I
actually couldn't think of anything to counter his razzing me on that
and you guys gave me some good reasons to shut him up. He really is an
old buddy so I can't bust him on the Isles record since he usually
supports the Devils when it isn't harmful to the Islanders - like during
the playoffs.

Anyway, don't hate me. I really managed to piss some of you off. Oh,
and to the "tough guy" who posted to "stop the flame", no hard
feelings. I wanted to make sure that your post didn't derail my evil
plans.

Cya.
