Holik. I think my feelings are mixed up with my brain on this one. I guess
the most logical thing would be just to trade him and get something for
someone whose heart seems set on leaving. I don't know why they wouldn't pull
the trigger on this, unless they think he does want to stay. Certainly didn't
sound that way!

HEATHEN!!! It's Patrik! How long of an offseason WAS that?
(I'm just kidding, but really that's a hot button for me, I have people who
insist on pronouncing his name the American way.)
I think they'll wait, but really they should get a long-term deal done NOW.
I'm thinking they wanna see if his production equals last year's. If so,
they're gonna get BURNED. I'm sure he's pretty fired up about impressing the
world after Syk's arbitration. Back up the money truck!

I feel Lou is pretty archaic about star players. But it's the system that has
worked for the team. The trouble is, I don't seem to be as "go with the flow"
as I was for the early years of my Devilshood. In other words, I don't want
these guys going anywhere else. This feels like my team. And I think that
I'll consider this team "the glory years" in future years, no matter what
comes down the pike. I can't remember any team every in any sport where I
counted at least 16 guys as personal favorites.

I think they'll wait on Marty. He really struggled at the end of the year and
I think they wanna see if he's done. Certainly he's been a franchise favorite
and justifiably is just so popular. But if the performance is the same - and
I don't think it will be - I don't think we'll see him around forever.
It would certainly be interesting to see another full-time goalie back there
(this is purely hypothetical, something you only wanna see for one game). For
all the guff, Marty takes, there's a lot on his plate - how do you stay
focused when the play's on the other side of the ice most of the time? And
that puck handling? Well, the Devs success in busting the power play ain't
just coming from Madden.

I think the trades will be the usual sort. Something near deadline to pump up
the team where it's needed.

Overall, I really expect a lot again from the team this year. The emotions
are a little more jagged than they've been, that'll either really help or
maybe hurt. I'm excited to see them get back out there and avenge the loss of
the Cup. I think Nieds and Rafalski's are keys to the success, now and in the
future. It'll be interesting to see how the A-Line reacts to whatever's
thrown in their way to block them since all the press about being possibly
the "best line in the league." And Marty...
