I imagine if this team looks like it has no shot at a Cup, Lou will
possibly trade him to a team that *does*.. if we have a legit shot again, I
don't know WHY we'd trade him and ruin our chances at another Cup (Unless we
got someone in return who could help us even *more*).

When has Lou ever RE-negotiated an already existing contract? If he has, I
sure don't remember it lol.

Yes and no ... but sort of not really... because it seems he rewards the
guys who stay loyal in the long run. Keep in mind that some of our current
'stars' did sign their contracts when they had NOT proven anything at the
time.

I know you didn't mean this comment as a specific Marty diss, but I'm
honestly beyond fed up with people talking about his 'vulnerability' or how
we shouldn't keep him or whatever. Because to be honest, MOST of our team
was a joke in the finals and throughout bits of the playoffs so it's kinda
hard to blame just Brodeur.
I imagine that it's up to Marty more than Lou. Unless Ahonen just tears
up the AHL, then the NHL and Lou decides Brodeur is expendable. Would you
really want to take the chance and HOPE that Ahonen pans out as well as
Marty? That's a huge-ass risk imo, and not one that is a smart one to take.
I'd try to sign Brodeur long-term, then if Lou feels he has too many 'top'
goalies (if any of the kids prove themselves), he can always trade him many
years from now.
> Do you feel any more trades will happen in the near future, or rather
prolly moreso @ deadline?
Who knows with Lou. he tends to be less active before the season, or
during.. then gets more into the trades near the deadline.
