I know our minds aren't on hockey, but we do have a lot of Danophytes around,
so here's some good news from the Star-Ledger.

Devils defenseman Ken Daneyko acknowledged he is in the twilight of his NHL
career, but the team's elder statesman said he is not entering his farewell
season with the club. Daneyko revealed yesterday he is signed for two more
seasons despite rumors that he is headed for unrestricted free agency next
summer.

Daneyko, 37, will earn $2 million this season and $2 million in 2002-2003 in
a contract extension that was finalized soon after the Devils won the 2000
Stanley Cup.

"We saw where he was going and we extended it," general manager Lou
Lamoriello said. "And I thought Kenny had a tremendous playoff last year. His
maturity and his veteran experience make him an important part of this team."
