Detroit Red Wings all-star center Sergei Fedorov was arrested early
Monday morning in Royal Oak, Michigan for driving under the influence.
The 31-year-old Fedorov was detained at approximately 2:30 a.m. He posted
bail and was released shortly thereafter.
It didn't say what his blood/alcohol level was.

As weird as this sounds I have to agree with Larry Brooks' opinion on
Bryan Berard. If he is going to return to the NHL he has a responsibility
to return to the Maple Leaves. It sets a dangerous precedent. Say I am a
young player who is about to be an RFA. I know I am not going to get
much on my new contract because I am an RFA. However, I know I would make
mad loot by being a UFA, I'll "retire" before the last season on my
contract. Then my contract will expire, I'll unretire and BAM I'll be a
UFA! I am really surprised the NHL has not stepped in and stopped this. I
understand that he is a UFA because Toronto did not offer him a qualifying
contract before July 1, however, he was *retired*. If a player retires
before the UFA age, his rights should stay with the team that had them
when he retired. I used to be big Berard fan but I find this stunt
deplorable.
